Climber's Story

Climber

Age

Adelaide, South Australia

Climbing has been my escape from the stressors and demands of daily life for years, but only when I don’t have my period.

As someone who has always had heavy periods, I worry about potential leaks which would be obvious when I’m on the wall.  If I wear period underwear or pads, I’m concerned that people will notice through my clothes when I’m climbing.   All of this makes me hyper aware of people looking up at me and suddenly my happy place becomes just another anxiety in the day.  I wish there was less stigma attached to periods and bleeding so I could just enjoy my sport without worrying about what others might be thinking.
